“I am a former architect turned painter, currently residing in Chicago. I paint at a large scale, creating vivid “space-scapes”. I use elements from landscapes, structures, and space objects to create these familiar yet surreal landscapes. There is love, soul, magic, and alchemy poured into every single brush stroke that I put on the canvas! I start out my paintings with a loose “colorscape” based on my own reference photos of landscapes or cityscapes. The colorscape guides the composition as I start to add in earthy landscape elements and space elements of planets, clouds, stars, atmosphere. The work takes on these familiar elements , while creating an abstract environment. I like to transport the viewer into my own universe creation, while keeping a sense of grounding and familiarity to what exists in our real world. Everything about my art from my color choices, to the elements I choose to paint have this familiar, yet mystical quality. “
Her pieces reflect the innermost aspects of herself, and the presence of these aspects in everyone and everything. Her paintings often take on a space-like quality but contain elements that viewers may recognize from the natural or man-made world. The contrast of these elements is meant to evoke a sense of strangeness to something that is familiar, exposing the absurdity and beauty of the inter-connectedness of our universe.
